Today was a good day, and Lewis is the first of two encounters today. Taken at Grey’s Monument again I spotted Lewis from a distance and frankly just walked straight up to him and asked to take his photo – he immediately agreed and didn’t appear to be that curious why but I explained anyway. I took a few shots and only one wasn’t acceptably sharp so I’m pretty pleased with that.

Lewis was handing out leaflets for a print shop but it turns out that he doesn’t actually work for them – he has been on the dole for a couple of years but he’s obviously tackling this with a very healthy attitude as he walked into the print shop and offered to hand out leaflets for them – and here he is. It cropped up in the conversation what qualifications Lewis has and they mostly escape me now but he has some sort of photography qualification but doesn’t think he should pick a career just because he enjoys something – he mostly enjoys landscape photography.

Regarding the headdress I asked if it was his or the shops and why he was wearing it and he explained that he had been at Download Festival – this I presume was an explanation why he owned it rather than why he was wearing it which with hindsight I never actually discovered. Anyway, pmcconnochie – apparently you missed one, but I’ve got your back covered ;).

All the time I was doing this Rob (my #9) was playing in the background which was quite cool. At that I thanked Lewis and said goodbye then wandered over to say hello to Rob and as a direct result got my #10 a few minutes later.

Lewis, thanks very much for taking part in my project and good luck with getting yourself sorted out with a job soon.

This picture is #12 in my 100 strangers project. Find out more about the project and see pictures taken by other photographers at the 100 Strangers Flickr Group page
